Dave Hegarty

Dave is a highly experienced investigator with an outstanding 35-year career in law enforcement.

He brings tenacity, professionalism and integrity to complex investigations, with extensive experience in serious and organised crime, fraud, surveillance and enforcement operations.

Dave served as a detective with both the City of London and Metropolitan Police. During his police service he led a dedicated surveillance team identifying and targeting major organised criminals.

He also led a local safeguarding team, protecting and supporting vulnerable young people and working closely with their families.

Throughout his police career, Dave received numerous commendations for his investigative ability, tenacity, integrity and bravery.

Since leaving the police service in 2016, Dave has established himself as an effective private-sector investigator. He has conducted complex fraud investigations, covert operations, security reviews and risk assessments for businesses and private individuals. He has also worked on major investigations alongside FACT and the MHRA, as well as other government bodies and corporate clients.

Dave has particular expertise in gathering evidence for private criminal prosecutions involving counterfeit luxury goods, tobacco and retail crime.

He has also delivered presentations to international law-enforcement and government officials on combating global intellectual-property crime and the use of private prosecutions.
