Can AI make court trials faster and improve access to justice?

BGP has developed AiCES (AI Court Evidence System), a fully voice-activated courtroom platform designed to improve efficiency across the UK justice system.

AiCES uses artificial intelligence to automate evidence presentation and real-time digital transcription, reducing the need for manual operation and streamlining court proceedings. Early testing indicates the system could reduce trial-related digital evidence costs and delays by up to 25%, helping courts operate faster and more cost-effectively while improving the experience for judges, lawyers, witnesses and victims.

The system is now the subject of independent research and mock-trial testing at Brunel University London, where academics are examining how AI-assisted evidence presentation could improve courtroom efficiency and access to justice. The project is believed to be the first UK academic study to test a live AI courtroom system in simulated trials.

More information, including a short video explaining AiCES can be found on the Brunel University website.
