Stewart is an outstanding investigator with extensive experience and success in both the public and private sector. His commitment, tenacity and eye for detail are second to none, ensuring the very best of results.
As a former Metropolitan Police senior investigating officer, Stewart successfully led and managed investigations into homicide and serious and organised crime.
He has also managed cold case reviews, training programmes and policy development.
Stewart was a senior investigator at the Serious Fraud Office, responsible for the investigation of bribery and corruption. As well as notable investigations into the global pharmaceutical industry, he also achieved the first ever UK Deferred Prosecution Agreement against a major bank.
He was also the deputy SIO and specialist fraud consultant to the Turks and Caicos Islands Government successfully investigating high level corruption.
Since joining the BGP team, Stewart has dealt with diverse and wide-ranging investigations on behalf of our clients. In one such case, Stewart successfully took on the challenge of obtaining and presenting the evidence against a business tycoon involved in a multi-jurisdictional fraud. After a three-month Old Bailey trial the defendant was found guilty, sentenced to eight years imprisonment and ordered to repay $20million. This is the largest and most successful private prosecution brought to date within the UK.
