40% of Wi-Fi users do not understand security settings
An online survey commissioned by the Information Commissioner’s Office has shown that 40% of people who have Wi-Fi at home do not understand how to change the security settings on their Wi-Fi networks.
Although the survey relates to home users, it is evident that many business users are equally lax. BGP’s Jim Dickie says “This survey is yet another example of how people need to be aware of the consequences of not protecting personal data. By not having adequate protection on your home and business networks, you are leaving yourselves open to data and identity theft as well as providing unscrupulous criminals with the means of using your internet for their own purposes.”
Should you require any more information or guidance on this subject, please contact Jim or any of the team at BGP.
